EICR remedial work in Enfield

Consumer unit replacement and EICR remedial work at fixed prices for rented houses and flats in EN1, EN3, N9, N13 and N21, from Southgate out to Enfield Lock. Email us the failed report from whichever inspector you used, and we'll price it within the hour.

There is no call-out charge when we change a board. A deposit secures the date, you settle the balance when the work is done and certified, and our money-back guarantee covers the lot.

How long have you got?

The 28 days run from the date of the inspection, not the date the report reached you.

The 1930s semi and the Enfield EICR

Most of Enfield was built out between the wars, when the Piccadilly line reached Southgate and Cockfosters and the Great Cambridge Road opened up the farmland. The result is street after street of semis and short terraces, a large share of them now let as whole family homes. That gives Enfield reports a pattern of their own.

Whole houses on an early board

In Palmers Green, Winchmore Hill, Bush Hill Park and Southgate, a rented semi may have been rewired once, decades ago, and then left. Typical findings are a board with rewireable fuses or cartridge fuses, no RCD on the sockets, and bathroom circuits with no additional protection. A plastic consumer unit fitted under the stairs or in the porch will usually be replaced with a metal one.

Garages, outbuildings and garden supplies

Suburban plots bring circuits that inner London flats do not have:

  • a garage or shed fed by a cable buried in the garden, often with no RCD;
  • outside sockets and lights added by a previous owner;
  • a loft conversion or rear extension wired from the nearest circuit.

We price each item from the report, so you can see what the outbuilding work costs separately from the board.

Edmonton terraces and the eastern estates

Edmonton, Ponders End and Enfield Lock have older terraces, post-war council estates and flats above the shops on Hertford Road and Fore Street. Flats over shops often take their supply through the shop or a shared intake, which needs planning before anyone isolates anything. On estates, the freeholder or housing provider controls the riser and we arrange access with them.

Earthing on these houses varies. Some are on an older cable-sheath earth, others on the network's combined earth, and the main earthing conductor is often undersized by current standards. If the report says the main earth needs upgrading, the price is in the table below, and we confirm it in writing before the day.

Questions from Enfield landlords

My tenant's garage and shed were coded too. Can you do those on the same visit?

Usually, yes. Outbuilding circuits are priced as separate items, so you see them line by line. If a buried cable has to be replaced rather than protected, we tell you in writing before we start.

How long is the power off in a three-bed semi?

A board change in a family house normally takes most of one working day. We give your tenant the date and rough hours in advance and restore the power before we leave.

The report came from a different company. Can you still quote?

Yes. Send it as it is. We price the coded items from our list, and the figure stays fixed unless we both agree a change in writing.

Can my letting agent in Enfield Town book this?

Yes. Agents can hold one account for inspections and remedials, with a single monthly invoice and the evidence filed property by property. See the agents page.
